FINANCIAL OFFICER, Media Laboratory, to serve as an integral part of a ten-person financial team. Will be responsible for complex financial activity associated with the Media Lab's research and consortium funding, perform comprehensive financial work, and advise and support a diverse community. Duties will include managing a complex portfolio of research groups and initiatives, including federal awards, byproviding monthly reporting, analysis, and advice; performing financial work, including analysis and strategic planning for research funding projections, personnel allocations, and other resource management issues; ensuring all post-award transactions within the portfolio are completed within set timeframes (including sponsor reporting, sub-award management, cost object maintenance, etc.); assisting with thepreparation of research proposal submissions to industrial, foundation, and federal sponsors during peak periods; and ensuring financial compliance with Institute policies and procedures and applicable agency rules and regulations. Will also manage financialprocesses that include monitoring delinquent travel expenditures/vouchers and swept credit card charges, maintaining the Roles database, monitoring payroll suspense accounts, approving requests for RA travel allowances, and other duties as assigned. Job Requirements REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; at least five years' related experience in accounting or finance; familiarity with federal awards and guidelines; ability to collaborate with MIT central offices; excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; meticulous attention to detail; problem solving, time management, and analytical skills; ability to prioritize, work efficiently despite frequent interruptions, take initiative, and implement and/or improve established financialprocesses; sensitivity with confidentiality information; and ability to interpret, communicate, and apply policies/procedures. Familiarity with MIT's financial procedures and practices preferred; as is experience with SAP, Concur, BrioQuery, and MIT's web-based financial systems.
