SummaryThe AD, Global Trade Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving upon the corporate wide Global Trade Compliance program. They will be accountable for GTC governance activities across the entire supply chain in partnership with PO&T GSC, Finance and Tax.Job CategorySupply Chain OperationsJob DescriptionThe incumbent will provide leadership for global import/export staff; overall management of Trade Program including Global Policies, procedures and internal controls; provide guidance and serve as company subject matter; and manage government disclosures and audits.Additional responsibilities include:Direct and control trade compliance activities across all of Biogen, including but not limited to Commercial, Clinical and R&D. Responsible for managing all matters of foreign trade relating to import and export of Biogen materials and technology.Manage enhancements and user administration for Global Trade Management (GTM) system. Identifies tools, systems and software to enhance end to end visibility, reduce manual errors and improve content available to Trade Specialists and Analysts in day to day operations.Ensure all of Biogen's operations are conducted in compliance with US and foreign trade laws. Lead/primary representative in Customs audits, inspections and regulatory agency inquiries. Investigates and develops strategy and response to ensure compliance in accordance with appropriate laws and regulations. Partners with Lead, Legal Partner regarding mitigation and disclosures.Maintain and publish metrics relevant to Trade Compliance. Identify and champion continuous improvement projects and ensure corrective actions are implemented regards deviations or unfavorable performance.Monitor all relevant operations departments and process owners to determine compliance with applicable policies and procedures. Perform compliance checks on import and export day to day transactions and address deficiencies. Performs periodic internal assessments to ensure compliance. Works with operations to develop remediation plan to address deficiencies.Qualifications12-15 years experience in international trade (industry experience is strongly preferred). Formal training in Import/Export Compliance preferred. Customs Brokerage License desirable.Ability to handle high complexity issues and problems with excellent decision-making skills and ability to navigate organization.Operational experience and expert knowledge of compliance regulations is critical.EducationBachelors degree required. Masters or MBA highly desirable.
